Sports Wagering Reminder

The NCAA bans sports wagering (gambling) of any kind by Student-Athletes. This ban is extended to any professional sport that the NCAA conducts a Championship Competition. This includes Professional Games (i.e. Super Bowl, NBA Games).

We would like to take this time to remind you that gambling is defined as putting something at risk for the opportunity to win something in return, which includes competitions that involve paying an entry fee for the opportunity to win a prize (i.e. Football Pools, Sports Lottery). This also extends to any item that has tangible value.

The ramifications of a student-athlete who participates in any sports wagering activity through the Internet, a bookmaker or a parlay card shall be ineligible for all regular-season and postseason competition for a minimum period of one year from the date of the institution's determination that a violation occurred and shall be charged with the loss of a minimum of one season of eligibility. If the student-athlete is determined to have been involved in a later violation of any portion of Bylaw 10.3, the student-athlete shall permanently lose all remaining regular-season and postseason eligibility in all sports.

We want you to enjoy the Super Bowl, but we don’t want you risking your eligibility.

Have a fun and safe weekend!!
